You can't say you haven't been given enough notice - the date for our NIIMC Annual Dinner is Friday 25th November 2016 at 7.30pm. The venue is most likely to be in Alfredo's in Lisburn (owned by Richard Graham who relocated from Pipers Hill in Lisburn earlier in the year and changed the restaurant name from Angelos).
We are in the process of agreeing a menu and price for the meal - further details to follow in due course.
If you are interested in attending (and bringing your family/friends) then please reply to this post with your contact details or alternatively call me directly and I can take your details and provide you with menu information once available.
Thanks

The Cars ‘n’ Coffee meet organised by the NI Thoroughbred Sports Car Club (TSCC) that had been planned for Sunday 28th August has been rescheduled and will now take place on Sunday 11th September. The rescheduled event will take place at Down Royal Park, Gravelhill Road Maze from 9.30am and as usual just bring along whatever car you wish and as always Vanilla Black will be there to supply the coffee.
An extract from the TSCC website reads as follows: "There will be no formalities in the way of pre¬booking or form filling, just arrive and park just where you fancy the only thing we ask is that you respect the local community by keeping the noise to a minimum and be aware the road leading to Down Royal Park carries a 30 MPH restriction. The added attraction for this event is that an optional car run has been organised by our own Neil Stevenson, to begin around 1pm leaving from Down Royal Park. The planned run will travel for a distance of around 70 miles through Co Antrim taking in Broughshane and Larne before finishing in Carrickfergus. If you have not been on an outing organised by Neil you will be in for a pleasant surprise, he is a top class organiser leaving nothing to chance and if you wish to take part just see him on the day. Cars ‘n’ Coffee has become an occasion that is looked forward to by many enthusiasts throughout Northern Ireland and always attracts a superb selection of cars both classic and some not so classic but the fact that we do not turn anyone away adds to the attraction and we are sure will continue to do so, we look forward to seeing you there."
Some club members plan to go along to the Cars n Coffee meet on Sunday and some may even participate in the optional car run. So if you are interested please come along and fly the Italian flag - remember Italian cars are the epitome of style and grace, admired and envied by many!! Should I bring my Calibra?

Please see message below which Drew McVeigh has asked me to highlight to club members.
Dear Club Members
We recently held an Alfa Romeo 4C Driving event at our showroom in Mallusk and unfortunately due to the tight time constraints we were very limited to the number of drivers slots we had available.
However Donnelly Bros Alfa Romeo have now got the 4C here as a demonstration car and I would like to invite any member of the NIIMC to have a test drive in this car at a time that would suit.
As we now have cars on site in both the 4C Coupe and 4C Spider we can offer both a test drive and a viewing of the car.
Please feel free to contact myself or a member of the sales team here and via appointment I would love members of the NIIMC to experience the car first hand
Kind Regards
Drew McVeigh

The annual Clady Vintage Run round the old Clady Circuit will be taking place on Friday 12 August. The gathering point is Killead Parish Church and motorcyclists and car drivers will set off for a lap of the circuit from about 6.30pm onwards. NIIMC members have attended this event in previous years and it always attracts a strong turnout with a wide variety of cars and bikes, old and new. There is a modest charge for those participating (with the money going to charity) but everyone attending receives tea/coffee sandwiches and traybakes in the church hall afterwards as well as a memento for taking part.
It would be good if we could have a healthy NIIMC presence so please add your name to this post if you intend to go.
I will start the list off.

Thanks for posting these photos and brief review - certainly whets the appetite. I am not long back from Austria where I was on my hols and hoped I might see one or two Giulias - I saw a black one driving past one day but it literally was only a glimpse. In Austria the German manufacturers dominate - far too many Porsche, Mercedes, BMW, Audi and Volkswagen!!

Dear All,
Instead of our normal club meeting on Tuesday 7th June we are going on a visit to the Ulster Aviation Society. It is located at the former WWII airfield at Long Kesh on the Halftown Road approximately 1 mile from Sprucefield, just outside Lisburn (full directions and a map are available on the Ulster Aviation website). We aim to meet there at 7.30pm and everyone attending is asked to go directly there. We will not be meeting up at a rendezvous point beforehand as the general consensus is that we don't have time due to people having to get home from work, get fed and back out again.
As members will know there is a modest cost for the visit which we can sort out on Tuesday evening.
Some members have asked about bringing friends or family members. This should be fine but we just need to have an idea of final numbers.
Members who have indicated they will be attending are; Simon Marshall Erin Katie Strapp Richard Strapp James McCune Simon Mooney Neil MacFadyen Alan Kingsbury Robert Reid Paul Nolan Robert McMillen - Colin Craig Alison Craig Deirdre Corrigan Donald Stewart Herbie McBratney Cyril McMullen George Coll David Murray Richard Houston Alastair McIlroy Ian Craig Tim Logan Brian Mackey David Campbell
Please reply to this post and add your name to the list if you intend to go. Likewise if you can no longer know please respond and let us know.
Thank you.

I've sent a text message to those that I know are going to the BOVC Show tomorrow. Just in case anyone else makes a last minute decision to attend we are going to meet at Applegreen's near Lisburn between 10.15 - 10.30am for a coffee and we hope to leave between 11 - 11.15am to go to the show at Warren Park. So either join us for a coffee beforehand or we will see you at the show. It is scheduled to run from 11 am - 5pm.

We are finalising the number of club members who are attending the BOVC show tomorrow. The intention is to meet up beforehand for a coffee and then travel in convoy to the show. I will post further details later of times and rendezvous point in the morning for those who want to join us for a coffee.

Dear All,
Those of you who have attended the club meetings in Feb and March will know that it is our intention to visit the Ulster Aviation Society. We had hoped to go on Tuesday 5th April instead of our regular club night. Alan Kingsbury had kindly made the arrangements with the Society but they have since come back to us this week to advise that on reviewing their bookings it quickly became apparent that they had made an error in accepting our booking as they had already accepted another large booking on the same evening. They have discussed all the options but given the sizes of the groups they have told us that it would be impossible to facilitate both on the same night and asked if it would be at all possible to arrange another date for our visit.
I think we have a number of possible options. (1) We can see if we can perhaps combine a visit to the Aviation Society with a club run and bite of lunch etc. This would point to a visit on a Sunday (we are checking this). If it is not we can (2) look at another date next month or in May but not a club night or we can (3) simply just push the visit back until Tuesday 1st June and go after our annual show.
I'd be grateful if those who are interested in attending could reply to this post and advise what your preference is - simply state 1,2 3 or all if you are content to go with the flow.
I will keep you informed of developments.
thanks

Can I suggest that everyone holds off from booking their entry tickets for Auto Italia just yet. Cyril is enquiring as to whether we can get any further discount as a club and as a group. £13 may be as good as it gets but if we don't ask we will never know.
So hold fire for now and we will update you as soon as we know.

Here's an opportunity for all you Italian car loving enthusiasts to attend one of the best events in the motoring calendar. Developed over the last 30 years in association with Auto Italia magazine, the Italian Car Day has become established as the UKs premier event for owners and admirers of Italian cars. There is much to see an admire including the Test Hill demonstration and action on the Mercedes-Benz World circuit which is adjacent to Brooklands Museum, Surrey where the event takes place.
Visitors arriving in any Italian car, be it a Fiat or a Ferrari, will have the opportunity to park in the areas set aside for the appropriate marques, car clubs and register displays. Further details about the event are as follows;
Date: Saturday 30 April 2016 Times: 8:30 to 17:00
Admission: Adults £13 in advance, £16 on the day, Seniors £12 in advance, £15 on the day, Children £5.50 in advance, £6.50 on the day, Family £35 in advance, £40 on the day.
A number of club members have already booked flights for a trip there and back on the Saturday. Ryanair's new service from Belfast to London Gatwick offers the best deals with a return trip currently costing less than £35. The flights that we have booked are the first flight from Belfast International at 6.55am (FR1132) and the last flight back from Gatwick at 9.45pm (FR1137). We will be booking transport (Italian cars of course) to take us to and from the event.
There probably will never be a cheaper opportunity to attend this must see event so if you are interested I would encourage you to book your flights now. If you do intend to go reply to this post so we know how many people we need to cater for when hiring cars. Having attended the event a few years ago I can honestly say that it is well worth a visit.
So what are you waiting for - get booking!!

First of all a very Happy New Year to all club members, their families and friends. I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and that Santa was good to you.
As many of us return to work tomorrow and we get back into our normal routine I wanted to remind everyone about our January club meeting this Tuesday in Lisburn Golf Club at the usual time of 8pm. The January meeting is our AGM during which members will nominate the officials that they wish to occupy the various positions in the club in the coming year.
So can I please encourage as many members as possible to come along on Tuesday and take part in the AGM - it is your opportunity to have your say and perhaps put yourself forward for a position in the club if you feel you have the time and ability to undertake a particular role.
I look forward to seeing a good turnout on Tuesday. Cyril and I promise to bring biscuits.

A big thank you to everyone who came to the NIIMC Annual Dinner on Friday evening. I think all those who attended had a very enjoyable evening at Angelo’s and everyone to whom I spoke agreed that the food and atmosphere in the restaurant was fantastic. Thank you also to everyone who donated raffle prizes and to each of you and your family and friends for your generosity in buying raffle tickets.
We raised over £500 which is very pleasing and we will plough this back into the club for the benefit of club members.
As those who attended will know Mervyn Shannon was unable to make it to the club dinner. I am aware that there has been some speculation regarding Mervyn's shop which had been closed for stocktaking in recent days. I am pleased to say that Shannon's Jeweller's is now open again and Mervyn has indicated that he is keen to maintain his association and support for the Club in the coming year. Our thanks to Mervyn for his ongoing connection with the Club and if anyone is keen to spend some of their hard earned cash on a gift for someone special this Christmas then Mervyn would be delighted for you pay him at visit at Shannon's.
Finally may I wish all Club members and their families a very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful and prosperous new year.
I will see you all again in January. Look out for the separate post regarding our Annual General meeting.
