This morning our esteemed member Herbie McBratney passed away. We would like to take this opportunity to pass our deepest sympathy to Ann and the rest of the family. Just a few weeks ago Herbie was full of life and fun at our annual show. When we presented him with his special prize, his response was "Are you being serious?" This sums up a person who was humble, yet contributed so much to the fabric of the NIIMC. He was the only member that I can think of who would personally call at our meeting to tell us he could not stay! At a personal level, I was so glad to have had his company over the last number of years. In life, you always meet people who are "characters" Herbie was one of those - with a capital C! I will miss him.
We will, of course, post more detail on the funeral when we get more information.

I fully endorse everything that Alastair has said about Herbie. He was the patriarch of our club and he was a friend to each and every one of us. I always enjoyed his company and will miss his infectious sense of humour and his cheeky smile.
I am sure that the club will be well represented at Herbie's funeral to pay our final respects to him.

Herbie's funeral will be on Thursday 22 June at 2pm in Seymour Street Methodist Church, Lisburn giving time for family members to get home. The service at 2pm will be a celebration of Herbie's life with a private family committal in the morning.
I plan to attend and I know that some other club members also intend to be there.
