Our next club run is going to include a visit to 'Grey Point Fort' within Crawfordsburn County Park. We're thinking of meeting up at 'The Pit Stop', Balloo Road, Bangor (near Eddie Irvine Sports) for a late breakfast/early lunch. Then taking a drive along the coast to end up at Crawfordburn Park.
Grey Point Fort is a unique, restored costal artillery site orginally built in 1904. We're planning to book a tour of the fort, including its Engine Room, Gun Store, Quarters etc.
Then finishing off with a further drive, probably back towards Belfast direction - possibly stopping off for coffee/refreshments along the way. Anyone know anything about 'The Coffee Yard', Holywood?
Just need to decide on a date and get a rough idea of numbers interested (for booking the tour.)
Suggested dates SUNDAY 14th JUNE 2015 or SUNDAY 28th JUNE 2015.
If you could please reply to this post (yes, no or maybe!) stating your preferred date if you're a yes, I'll be able to start making further plans.
Cheers, James

28th would probably suit me.
Probably worth bearing in mind that the 14th is the day after Ballymena car fest so some wont want to be out 2 days in a row..
Also the coffee yard is very good but not the cheapest, their french toast is awesome. (They are closed on sundays) there is also the Bay tree coffee house just down the street but its only open untill 3 on Sundays
Other places for coffee around the area are , Clements or Bells on the upper newtownards road or even David Lloyds beside Dundonald ice bowl. there is a Jazz group playing at Bells on the 14th so it might be busy. Bells and Lloyds have car parks. Clements is on road parking.
Olivers on the Belmont road does some great coffee and Buns etc. Again really only on street parking (plenty of it though)

Thanks for the replies so far. Some very good points/advice, Ian. Might be asking a bit too much to have two outings on the same weekend! Keep the replies coming, James

Hi James,
I'm in if we can go for 27th/28th June. I have to agree with Ian that being away for two days in a row (13th & 14th June) might be a bit difficult to get away with!

28th suits me better, although could make 14th also, but as has been pointed our carfest is the day before and spending the whole weekend away might not be appreciated at home

I agree with the comments regarding two days in a row on 13th and 14th June. On that basis 28th June would potentially suit me better. It's a few days before I go on holiday so will need to work up a few brownie points with the Ministry of Home Affairs!!

I'll book the tour for around 12.30pm/1pm ?
Meet at the Pit Stop around 11am/11.30am?
Do those times suit?
Anyone else interested in going, please add your name to the list.
Thanks, James
